As the number of United Church of Christ congregations in the St. Louis deciding to be open and affirming communities of faith grew, they adopted the name Gateway O&A and made a commitment to be a presence within our UCC churches and communities year-round. Gateway O&A now meets regularly, continuously addressing issues of spirituality and inclusion, particularly as they apply to the LGBTQ community. Kirkwood UCC members march in the Pride parade every year and help staff a Gateway O&A booth, where individuals and churches can learn more about open and affirming ministry. Members also participate in workshops and in outreach to support congregations considering becoming Open and Affirming.
