GOD’S HELPING HAND MINISTRY

For many years, KUCC had made breakfast for the homeless on Sunday mornings in North St. Louis. Anywhere from 75 to 125 men, women, and children were served each Sunday, most recently at Antioch Baptist Church in the Ville neighborhood. Their energy and happiness filled us up as our food filled them up. When COVID hit, the Breakfast Program part of this ministry had to be shut down, and it remains so to this date.

During COVID and after, Janis Hutchison, Outreach Director for the GHH program, teamed up with volunteers from the local community and opened a food pantry. Kirkwood UCC supports the food pantry with the funds that we had allocated for the Breakfast Program. We also to continue to support their operating budget.

Here are some other ways KUCC supports Gods Helping Hand:

  • Food Boxes – The congregation collected boxes of food to send to the food pantry at GHH.
  • Hygiene Packets - Our members donate toiletries which are sorted into kits and given to those who might not have such necessities.
  • Christmas Gift Program – Our congregation supplies Christmas gifts to families in the GHH community.
