Childcare for babies through three-year-olds is offered in our nursery during Sunday services and adult education class. Classes for children in preschool through eighth grade take place during the Sunday service, after the children’s message. We are introducing a new curriculum based on the Deep Blue Bible, a child-friendly lens for studying biblical messages. Each season’s lessons revolve around a unifying theme, and children often help with church service projects. For example, once a month they package personal hygiene items for our ministry in North St. Louis. Teachers who care make Christian love tangible for our children.
LOGOS is our mid-week ministry for children in 1st – 8th grades. We meet on Thursday evenings from September through March from 4:30 – 7 PM. The schedule includes recreation, music, dinner, Bible study, and worship. The goals of LOGOS are to build relationships among young people, between young people and adults, and between each individual and God.
Our 2016-2017 year began on September 15 and will wrap up on March 9. All young people, grades 1-8, are invited to attend and bring a friend. Everyone has a great time. Teens and adults are encouraged to join the fun as leaders, helpers, cooks, and cleanup crew members. Contact Deb Humphrey, LOGOS director, if you want to enroll a child or volunteer in the program for next year’s LOGOS activities.
“There are different spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; and there are different ministries and the same Lord; and there are different activities but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. A demonstration of the Spirit is given to each person for the common good.” I Corinthians 12:4-7. This scripture set the theme for LOGOS in 2015-2016. The photo shows participants acting out Paul’s message about varied but vital gifts as part of LOGOS’ end-of-year celebration.
In 2016-2017 the theme was learning about Jesus–his ministry and teachings. There is always something new to discover in LOGOS. Plan to come and see what surprises are waiting for you in the fall!
Faith formands engage in a study of faith and scripture; and explore thoughts about God, Jesus, and all aspects of the Church. Class is experiential and interactive, with a focus on discussion and critical thinking, especially as faith relates to contemporary life issues. During the summer following the class, faith formands spend a week doing mission work outside of St. Louis. For the past several years, the faith formation class has ventured to Los Angeles for this trip.
The next class for youth will begin in the fall of 2018.

The students help Senior High teens run a lemonade stand at the Kirkwood Greentree Festival to underwrite their various mission programs and activities.
The Senior High Group is for students in grades 9 through 12.
