TIMELINE OF HISTORY

1951

First informal services held

May 1952

Church is incorporated as Kirkwood Evangelical & Reformed Church

1952

FIRST PASTOR: Rev. John Schroeder

1953

Land bought to build sanctuary (Dougherty Ferry and Lindemann Rd)

1957

Becomes Kirkwood United Church of Christ with merger of Evangelical and Reformed and Congregational Christian denominations

1960's

Educational wing built

1970's

Parsonage built

1970's-1990's

Shared preaching duties, choirs, local mission efforts, and youth programs with Faith Presbyterian Church.

1992

New office space & classrooms added

2000's

Donated space during the week to eleven community and recovery groups.

2007

Became an Open & Affirming Congregation

2009

Pastor Betsy called to ministry at KUCC

2009

House east of church bought as new parsonage

2011

Old parsonage sold

2017

Became Immigrant Welcoming Congregation

2018

Major renovation of church buildings occurred
