The Rev. Betsy Happel began her ministry at KUCC in June 2009. Betsy earned a BA in Psychology from Northwestern University, an MS in Industrial Relations from Loyola University of Chicago, and an MDiv at Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis. She was ordained in May 2004 by the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and served as pastor of Red Top Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Hallsville, MO from 2004-2009. She was granted dual partner standing in the United Church of Christ in June 2009.

Betsy's work prior to entering seminary was in the field of human resources where she worked with several large companies in Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas and St. Louis. She is especially interested in spiritual development and church education, both with youth and adults. She has been involved in the wider church and with ecumenical concerns, and continues to serve on a committee of the Christian Church addressing issues of reconciliation and racial justice.

Betsy is married to Rick, a management/financial consultant, and while they have no children, they love their Labrador Retriever, Ellie.
