Regular Gatherings of our Church Family
Social Hour takes place every Sunday after our worship service in our Friendship Room. Adults and children enjoy treats and a chance to greet visitors and friends. Child care is provided so that parents with young children can participate without worries. Children are, however very welcome and gather for cookies and juice and play time with pals.
Congregational Meetings take place twice a year, in May and November, following worship. All are welcome to attend. Members are entitled to vote on officers, policies, and church decisions.
Flexible Space for Fellowship: The photo on the right shows our sanctuary set for sharing worship and a potluck meal on Worldwide Communion Sunday. We are excited that renovations to our main floor will soon create a large commons where the gathering area is now located. This will be a wonderful space in which to share our coffee time and church meals.
Women’s Fellowship and Men’s Lunch 2nd Week of the Month
All women of the church are invited to share fellowship and lunch on the second Wednesday of each month. Sometimes the group takes informative trips, enjoying lunch in the process. Other times women gather at KUCC to share a brown bag lunch and listen to a speaker or work on service projects. For information about the current meeting program and location, contact Evie Appel at 314-965-5014.
The men of KUCC (and friends of course!) gather on the second Friday of each month for a time of fellowship, Bible reading and discussion. The leader will pick a passage of relevance to read and we discuss what it meant at the time it was written and how it impacts us in the 21st century. The new meeting location is O’Charley’s at 1242 South Kirkwood Road at 12:30 pm.
Members contributed dishes to a potluck meal of traditional African American dishes as part of our celebration of Black History Month. This event occurred on Feb. 26 this year and featured delights ranging from fried chicken and barbecued ribs to collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and corn bread. Virginia Okoloko and Earline Stewart once again organized a true Soul Food feast!
Progressive Dinner–April 22–Save the Date!
Participants have appetizers at one home, then split into groups for the main course at several host homes, and then gather at another home for dessert. This event is scheduled for April 22, 2017. Anyone interested in hosting should contact Sharon Danyluck or Barb Harris. Plan to attend and, if you wish, bring a friend. Delicious food and great company always make for a thoroughly enjoyable evening!
Ice Cream Social
KUCC provides free ice cream to members and neighbors as a way to get acquainted and enjoy a summer evening. This event is often scheduled either just before Vacation Bible School begins in the summer or on Sunday School Rally Sunday in the fall.
A recreational co-ed adult volleyball league during winter months is open to all interested members.
