The Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir sings for the 8:30 AM service.  They lead in worship and liturgy.  Repertoire includes a wide range of composers and styles ranging from the classical music of Handel and Mozart to the contemporary praise music of Haugen, Hurd, Schutte, Haas and Twila Paris.  Spirituals, both white and black, are an important part of the music ministry.  We feature our young jazz musicians frequently.

The choir meets on Thursdays from 7:15 to 8:30 PM and rehearses on Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM for the 9:30 service.  Soloists meet with the director at 7:00 PM before the Thursday rehearsal at 7:15.

Instrumentalists frequently accompany the choir during services.

The choir rehearsal includes a vocal warm-up, emphasis on musicianship and sight singing.  Vocal blend and vowel unification are emphasized.

This group of dedicated people works to make the worship service musically expressive and meaningful.
